Find a Mid-Michigan Staycation Destination this Summer
There is plenty to do in the mid-Michigan region when it comes to finding a quality vacation destination. If you are looking to take your family on a staycation this summer, the staff at Thelen Honda would like to share with you some of our favorite spots when we don’t want to venture too far from Bay City. Michigan is a beautiful state, and we are so proud to live in a region that offers so much to do and see when we want to take a day to escape! Going to any of these places in a quality Honda car/SUV/truck will add enjoyment to the adventure!
Our Favorite Mid-Michigan Destinations
Frankenmuth – While it is well-known for its Christmas-themed store Bronner’s, the popular mid-Michigan town has so much more to see! With its classic Bavarian building designs and plentiful shopping options, traveling to Frankenmuth is like being transported to a completely different area of the world. Other fun options in Frankenmuth are the Michigan Heroes Museum with the nation’s largest display of the Medal of Honor and Grandpa Tiny’s Farm, a working farm where you can tour historical farm buildings and visit a variety of farm animals.
Birch Run – Looking to fulfill your desire for shopping? Do you and your family love visiting the zoo? Birch Run is a town that features a well-known outlet mall that can cater to a diverse array of shopping preferences. The Wilderness Trails Zoo is home to plenty of animals that family members of all ages will enjoy seeing. Racing fans in your family will love catching a race at the Birch Run Speedway!
Saginaw – Staying closer to Bay City while still getting away for the day, Saginaw is home to a wide variety of things to do! If you are an outdoors person, the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge offers you 6.5 miles of beautiful scenery, great opportunities to see wildlife in its natural habitat, and even hiking! Young family members will find there is plenty of stuff to do that is perfectly suited for them. This includes both the Saginaw Children’s Zoo & the Children’s Museum! There are other museums in the city such as the Marshall M. Frederick’s Sculpture Museum & the gorgeous Castle Museum.
