While the 2017 Honda Ridgeline went on hiatus for two years, consumers have been waiting patiently to see what Honda would come up with for the new model year. It was well worth the wait! With the 2017 model, Honda has connected the Ridgeline with more conventional trucks with its exterior, but still stands out among its competition. According to The Car Connection “it is much more composed, much more user-friendly, somewhat more efficient, and pretty clever in how it makes the most of its mid-size bed.” Inside, it practically copies the Pilot with a wide variety of controls dominated by a center touchscreen.

While the Ridgeline cannot match bigger trucks for pulling and payload, it bests every other truck for ride comfort and handling. The Ridgeline is quicker and smooth to drive. It also makes good use of the 6-speed automatic that is offered. The all-wheel-drive version uses several technological features to help the vehicle stay stable when put to task. Compared to other models as well, the Ridgeline’s independent suspension delivers a comfortable ride and the sharpest handling in a truck.

Interior features are improved as well. There is plenty of passenger space and storage area. The materials are finer than its rivals, with a fit and finish that stands out among the rest. The seats actually flip up high enough to be able to stow a golf bag!

One of the most interesting features of the new Ridgeline is its truck bed. There is a dual-action tailgate is hinged both at the bottom (like regular trucks) and along its left side so it can open like a door. There is also a cooler-sized trunk with a flat bottom and a drain plug under the bed floor. This, paired with an industry’s first in-bed audio system, makes the Ridgeline a great choice for tailgating this upcoming sporting season.

The brand new 2017 Honda Ridgeline is a great alternative to full-size trucks. It is fantastic when matching the right tool to the right job. And with added standard features such as multi-angle rearview camera, Bluetooth, trailer-sway assist, and hill-climb assist, Honda has really helped the Ridgeline pull ahead of other trucks in (and out of) its class.
